2. Style: Sophie Grillet's work includes paintings in oils and acrylics as well as stone and clay sculpture and photography. A lot of her work is abstract, but each artwork always means something. She often gives her work interesting titles too. Sophie likes to experiment with all kinds of media from aluminum to yarn. Her style is more unique than other artists.
3. Philosophy: Sophie attempts to integrate her interests in art, social justice, science, and math. Her work reflects on the tragedy of our love of natural beauty and our haste to destroy it. It's important for Sophie that all parts of the work speak to each other and that the eye is led around the whole work without ignoring the background, that is to say, the context. She loves to research the history behind the art, and find links between apparently differing works. Finding scientific angles for the physics department's summer student group is always a highlight.
4. Influences: Her unique sense of style influences me because I now have a different view of how I see things. Before I take a photo, I will look at all angles to see what would look best in that photo. She has a good eye and can make her work stand out easily. Also, her titles she gives to her art work and photography are very clever. Because of Sophie, I believe I have become a better photographer.

6. Compare and Contrast:
7. Personal Artist Statement: In the first photo, I captured an image of some berries. This pic is similar to the image created by the artist because They are both being reflected by light. In my second photo, I took a picture of a dam. It's like the original image of the fence because this dam is like a gate, but for water. For my third photo, I took a photo of snow covered in plants. In the image I was trying to replicate, it shows the plants that have survived and that is pretty much what I was doing for my photo too.
